CF Design was founded in 1998 by its principal, Cheryl Fosdick, who has since designed over 100 new homes and remodels. Our work is primarily focused in the Midwest and Upper Great Lakes regions, and we pride ourselves on creating designs that are sensitive to their surroundings and reflect a modern aesthetic.

Our team is led by Cheryl and Joe Krumpelmann, both of whom have extensive experience in residential design. Cheryl's work is known for its energy efficiency, spatial efficiency, material clarity, and sympathy with the building site and context. Joe has spent three decades working on both large and small-scale projects, with a particular fondness for residential design.

Our Process

Designing a home is a collaborative process that begins with getting to know you, your lifestyle, and your dreams for your home. We start by listening, asking questions, and observing. We then translate what we learn into physical and abstract ideas about space and form, considering the relationships between spaces, materials, patterns, and forms from both high-level detail and broad framework perspectives.

Our process is sharpened by our experience and constant honing of our professional skills. We believe that design is an activity, not a static product, and we are committed to working with you every step of the way to ensure that your home is a true reflection of who you are.

Our Services

Our services range from complete architectural services through construction to hourly consultation. Every project we undertake strives to find a specific and tailored fit to both the site and the unique people who will call it home.

During the design process, we work to develop an understanding of your individual character and particular environment. We model, draw, talk, scheme, and conjecture to discover, encourage, and extend the collective story of your family and your land. Our goal is to create a home that is not just a building, but a lovely and pleasing teller of tales.

In addition to designing new homes, we also offer consultation services. Conversation and plain observation can reveal relationships between physical or functional aspects of land or building or emotional connections between spatial and material qualities in surroundings. These few hours can jumpstart a series of exciting possibilities for change, which is where design begins.
