Your Trusted Source for Building Materials in Tiverton
Founded in 1885 by Peleg Durfee Humphrey and Captain Nathaniel B. Church, we have dedicated over 130 years to serving Rhode Island's building material, hardware, heating, and painting needs. Our commitment to quality products and personalized service distinguishes us from larger competitors while maintaining deep roots in the Tiverton community. Originally operating along the Sakonnet River, our strategic waterfront location enabled efficient delivery of coal shipments and lumber from Maine and Florida via schooner. The P.D. Humphrey dock became Tiverton's largest commercial hub, attracting visitors who gathered to witness the arrival of the Alice Wentworth schooner. Following hurricane damage in 1954, we relocated to Main Road while preserving our tradition of excellence. As a member of Lumbermans Merchandising Corporation, we combine national buying power with local expertise to offer premium materials at competitive prices. Our services extend beyond product sales to include architectural coordination, GPS-tracked delivery, installation management, and educational seminars. We maintain a 10-acre yard stocked with framing lumber, engineered materials, and specialty products from trusted brands. Our Sakonnet Kitchen and Bath division provides custom cabinetry, countertops, and fixtures through expert design consultations. Through generations of change, we remain committed to delivering reliable solutions, innovative products, and community-focused service that exceed customer expectations.
